SMS Messaging Policy
Last updated: 26 June 2026
1. About this programme
247Monitor is a website, API and server monitoring service operated from the United Kingdom. As part of the Service we offer an optional SMS alert programme that texts our registered account holders when the systems they monitor have a problem. These are transactional, operational service alerts — for example, a site going down, an SSL certificate about to expire, or a server crossing a CPU threshold. We never send marketing or promotional text messages.
2. Who receives messages
Only people with a 247Monitor account who have added and confirmed their own mobile number receive SMS alerts. We do not message anyone who has not personally opted in, and we never message third parties or purchased lists. Every recipient is a customer who has configured 247Monitor to watch their own infrastructure and chosen SMS as a way to be notified.
3. How you opt in (consent)
Consent is collected through an active, affirmative step inside the authenticated app — it is never pre-selected and never assumed:
- Create a free account and sign in at app.247monitor.net.
- Go to Alert Channels → Add channel → SMS.
- Enter your own mobile number in international format (for example +447700900123).
- Tick the consent box to confirm you agree to receive SMS alerts, then save. The number begins receiving alerts only after you have done this.
The exact consent statement shown next to the checkbox in the app reads:
“I agree to receive recurring automated SMS alerts from 247Monitor at this number about the systems I monitor. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Messaging Policy and Privacy Policy.”
4. Sample messages
Every message is identified as being from 247Monitor and names the monitor it concerns. Alerts look like this:
- 247Monitor: Example Website is DOWN
- 247Monitor: Example Website is back UP
- 247Monitor: Checkout API is DOWN
Messages do not contain marketing content or web links. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help — see section 7.
5. Message frequency
Message frequency is recurring and variable: it depends entirely on your own alert activity and the monitors and rules you have configured. A quiet account may receive no messages for weeks; an account during an incident may receive several. You control exactly which monitors and rules send SMS.
6. Cost
247Monitor does not charge you per text, but message and data rates may apply from your own mobile carrier depending on your plan.
7. Opting out and getting help
- Stop messages at any time by replying STOP (we also honour OPTOUT, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE and STOPALL), or by removing or disabling the SMS channel in the app. After STOP you will receive one confirmation and then no further messages.
- Opt back in by replying START.
- Get help by replying HELP or INFO, or by emailing [email protected].
8. Your mobile data is private
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and we never sell or rent them. Your number is disclosed only to our SMS carrier (Twilio) for the sole purpose of delivering your messages. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for full details.
